The Africa 7’s is a major event for French Schools in Africa. After Johannesburg (South Africa) in 2015 and Tananarive (Madagascar) in 2016, the event will be hosted by the Denis Diderot high school, at the Impala grounds from the 3rd to the 8th April 2017. This will be the first time that the school will host such a major event.
6 French Schools in Africa, 2 from the Reunion Islands and Mayotte, as well as 6 local schools (including international schools and a Kenyan school from Kibera), will participate in the tournament. A total of 28 teams and 314 pupils will participate in this event.
The event which is greatly supported by The Ambassador of France in Kenya, was selected as one of the Agence pour l’enseignement français à l’étranger key projects in 2017.
Multiple educational objectives
The Africa 7’s has a goal of promoting and strengthening relationships:
1- Between the French African institutions of the network by allowing their pupils to live and share a unique experience in Kenya.
2- Between the Lycée Denis Diderot and Kenya by portraying the institution as one which encourages dynamic encounters and international exchanges in French.
3- Between young people by strengthening the bond of friendship and solidarity among them, thus promoting the universal values of sport, especially rugby, by learning to live together and participating in a process of cultural and social diversity around the same passion.
The participation of the Sadili Ovale rugby school from Kibera slum and other international schools from Nairobi will enable pupils to exceed cultural and social differences existing in Kenya.
We wish all participating teams good luck!
